Do you feel bad about yourself? Worn out? Do you have the impression that almost every undesired or feared outcome
becomes reality for you?
Do you tell others you’re not good enough in this and that or just tell yourself about who you’re not? Do you habitually speak negatively about yourself, saying things like ”I’m too clumsy”, “too fat”, “not talented”, “I could never do this… or that…”?
Watch your mouth! Speaking carelessly is dangerous and outside of God’s will, and it has the power to become your reality! Ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? The bible teaches from the beginning that words have power.
We are constantly rejecting His gift when we count our flaws and past sins. If God forgives and forgets them, why do we keep track of them? If God loves us AS WE ARE and works through our weaknesses, why do we paralyze ourselves by declaring our “cannot’s”?
This is not some cheap speech on positive thinking, but powerful reality.
In times of turmoil, resist the urge to say discouraging, defeating things and instead repeat what you know from God: “You said Your arm has not lost its power.” “You are Jehovah Yireh, and I will be provided for.” “You said You have not given me a spirit of fear…” “My God will never leave me nor forsake me. He places His hand of blessing on my head.” ” You hand out gifts to everyone as you see fit.” And so forth. You get the point. Keep going until the enemy gets the memo and walks away (flees, FAST).
You can acknowledge the truth of having weaknesses and your need for God’s help without casting yourself down. We often don’t realize how we contribute with careless words to our own misery by repeating a long-trusted lie…
