In a post from 2010, I suggested to thank God for the things you have, instead of constantly asking for the things you don’t have. That changes your perspective quickly, but there are more things God revealed to me that help in a transformation.

Almost, Meet Truth. Life, Meet…Oops, Where’d She Go?

Almost! Man, you were so close! You almost wrote a book. You almost made a decision. Then you almost acted on it. You almost called your ___fill-in-the-blanks___. You almost volunteered to help someone. You almost gave up that bad habit. You almost joined the gym and got in shape. What else did almost change your life and that of others? (more…)
The Past Is Over. What Are You Waiting For?

The past is over. Get off those chains that hold you to your past so you can walk to your promised land.
You know what to do, knowledge has been given to you, ideas, opportunities; but all you do is considering? Looking at your past? Your “history” is something the world looks at to evaluate your potential. God does not operate like that. He says that your past is over, forgotten, you are freed from its effects if you believe, just a little tiny bit of faith will do. (more…)
How To Be Confident

When I meditate on this scripture:
You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you, ‘You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away: Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ (Isaiah 41:9, 10 NKJV)
I hear God saying, “Don’t worry, don’t be frustrated and if you are, if you ever miss something in your life, or feel lost, displaced, lonely, try to fill a void, look not anywhere but to Me. I AM right here, with you, all the time, no matter where you find yourself at any given time. Turn to Me and share your life with Me, tell me what worries you, what you enjoy, what you desire, ask Me your questions, share your concerns, your burdens and believe, not fear. (more…)
Nothing is impossible, but you can stand in the way. Or decide to ditch the excuses and look for ways to make it happen =)
Have a great week!
Will I Ever Finish Cleaning?
Posted: Aug 8, 2010 by Corinna in UncategorizedTags: Correction, Endurance, Fighting, Motivation
Have you ever thought your house was clean and then did your spring cleaning or cleaning after moving out of a place and realized how much dirt was still in your house in areas you couldn’t see? Last week, I had a moment like that – again. I am grateful for every mess the Lord points out in me; because He answers my prayers that way and helps me clean up, too. And after some cleaning, I feel pretty good for a while. Until he removes another piece of furniture and I think “oh my…will I always be messed up?” You don’t know how much fixing you need until the Lord slowly uncovers the layers of your personality and the way you live life. Thanks to Almighty God, He doesn’t give me the full load, but reveals things little by little.
Last week, I was struggling with something I had been fighting for a while, even more because the rest of the world thinks that it’s OK since everybody does it. The bible says otherwise and the Holy Spirit was also telling me the same. Knowing that I hate sin and was especially praying about this issue, I found myself stumbling and falling despite all intentions and prayers. At that day, I was so mad at myself. I was extremely unhappy with myself and thought “what mess I am, I thought I got this one fixed already. Why do I keep doing what I know is not good and do not want to do and pray that I will never do? Why did the opposite happen today?”
Then I read Romans 7:15-25 which encouraged me not to give up but to keep fighting in faith, which is why I want to share it with you so you’ll be encouraged no matter how messed up you feel or how often you failed on the same exact issue.
15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c]For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
(Romans 7:15-15)
This is not an excuse, but it encourages me to keep on fighting and being faithful in God, who knows our hearts and will show us a path if we put all our trust in Him (read Proverbs 3: 5-7!).
Need a boost?
Posted: May 15, 2010 by Corinna in UncategorizedTags: Boost, Depression, Motivation, Strength, Stress
I haven’t been able to post as frequently as I wanted to but I am not too worried about that. My job has demanded more of my weeknights and weekends and at times I got frustrated. I am dedicated to serve God and He has shown me at my job how to serve Him there, as well.
When I am in His word and am praying or listening, He provides me with everything I need in a particular situation to get my head back up and be strong, to overcome, continue, and help others do the same. When that happens, I share it, because this is what this blog is all about – encouragement. Encouragement for every moment that you need it. If I could give hugs on this blog, you would get one every time (I’m one of those people).
Other times, the encouragement doesn’t come in a big message. It can be as simple as
“This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God I with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NLT)
There you go! Being in His word prepares for moments where you lack energy and courage and a single verse can get you back on your toes. That’s what I will now share as well as “boosts” (like an energy boost). Yes, you can find exactly that in your bible, but since you are reading this blog that shares the encouragement I received from our Heavenly Father, I will share it here and urge you to look it up in your own bible version.
Be encouraged!
Help!

Unrelated to the message on this post, a Beatles-song keeps playing over and over in my head after I typed in the title to this article…driving me nuts! Hehe. Actually a mood-lifting video. =)
Anyhow. Let’s get some perspective and look at the bright side of life. Think positive. Yada yada. I could go
on and on with these often used attempts to encourage someone who is in need for advice, a listening ear or some help. There’s truth in all of them. But that alone doesn’t help you at all in a moment of utter unhappiness, does it?
I have learned that friends will listen to you and will help you where they can, but they cannot drag you out of unhappiness or a self pity pit. You can do it and here is how it has worked for me a couple of times. I will share with you a few ideas on how to create your “memorable moments medicine” that you can take next time you need a reminder of all the ways God has been there to help you (not expanding on the fact that we are all doing way better than we deserve…).
