I will be honest… my week last week was horrible, I was completely out of it and nothing seemed to be going in my favor. ( I was having a selfish moment, but I got out of it lol) I had to remind  myself to count my blessing and the things that I thought were issues in the grand scheme of things weren’t.

I wanted to share with you  a book I have  been reading lately: The Purple Book. This is not my first, second or third time reading the book but my fifth! This time the book has really hit home and has made me move some things in my life. It breaks down every concept in Bible as well as encourages your walk with God. To say you are a Christian is one thing, but being able to communicate that to someone in your actions or verbally is what it is all about. You may understand faith, salvation, grace etc. but have you ever thought about how you are going to communicate that to someone else?! A quote that I will never forget hearing in a sermon… “Being a Christian is not about YOU.” When I first heard this statement I was confused…. Think about this statement though… why are we here? We are here to serve a purpose. (Ephesians 2:10)
This really made me evaluate myself and were I was in this Christian race… and I am serving my purpose? I may not know my purpose fully but I will try my hardest to figure it out and get closer to it every day.
A quote from my daily reading:
“He needed someone just like you to love the unlovable- to bring joy to the dark, cold world- to reveal peace in confusing conversations and situations- and to be kind at times when our culture is desolately cruel.”
Know you have a purpose on this earth. “God will only reveal himself through us to the extent that we allow him too…”
Below is a link to the book. Check it out! They are pretty cheap at my church let me know if you want me to get you one and mail it to you! :)
Thanks for reading! :)

“So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.” (Luke 8:18 NLT)

The “HOW you hear” really caught my attention. It’s not just listening but listening with intention, with effort, with purpose, actively, not passively. I have been guilty of listening to the word of God in my devotionals passively, leaning back, just having a story told and not listening by leaning forward…

This “lean-back listening” robs me of the gift of understanding and gaining precious wisdom. I pray that all of us will not be distracted or taking it easy when listening to the word of our God today.

Be blessed!

Did you ever research your own name for the meaning behind it? Today, the tradition of naming a child according to its character or the circumstance in which it is born, became uncommon. But in biblical times, this was very common practice. A parent’s choice of a child’s name had influence because the name equaled the identity of an individual. (more…)
