In 1. Samuel 8, the Israelites – set apart from the world – decided they wanted to be like everybody else. By demanding a king, they did not only offend God, but also rejected the blessing of God being their king in exchange for a human being to reign over them. Samuel carefully explained the consequences which did not change their demand for a king. Reading this, I shook my head. But the truth is, we are no different.
I started thinking, ‘what king did I choose to rule over some areas in my life?’ Where am I misled in my approaches, my desires and my way of thinking? (more…)
